Flying to Puerto Rico

Travelers are responsible for their round-trip flights to Puerto Rico. Once you have booked your flights, kindly forward your itinerary to Luis González. Please use the following guide when booking your itinerary:

Sunday, May 7: Arrive at San Juan Airport (SJU) no later than 4:00 PM.

The trip kicks off with a welcome reception and dinner at 6:00 PM.  Our group is staying at the Verdanza Hotel, located at 8020 Tartak Street, Carolina; take a taxi or an Uber from the airport at Terminal A (JetBlue) or B (all other airlines). The approximate time from the airport to the hotel is 10 minutes. Taxis cost about $15.00.

* Please note that check-in is not available until 3:00 PM at the Verdanza Hotel, but you are welcome to enjoy the hotel facilities and safely store your luggage while you wait for your room.

Wednesday, May 17: Hotel checkout is noon, but travelers can depart any time on May 17.

Pre- and post-trip accommodations

GreenWood’s Artisan EcoTour to Puerto Rico begins on May 7 and ends on May 16, 2023. But if you wish to arrive a few days early or depart a few days after the program and stay at the Verdanza Hotel, we are happy to arrange your pre- or post-trip booking at our negotiated group rate. Contact Luis González for more information.

Accommodation arrangements outside the Verdanza Hotel before or after the Artisan EcoTour program are your responsibility.

 

Travel insurance

GreenWood  requires all travelers, with the exception of Puerto Rican residents, to purchase travel Insurance that covers medical expenses related to COVID-19 while in Puerto Rico.

GreenWood strongly recommends all travelers purchase Cancel for Any Reason travel insurance to protect you from unexpected events. Flights can be delayed or canceled, causing travelers to miss part or all of the trip. We are also living through a pandemic, and entry requirements and border closures can occur quickly and with no notice. As a reminder, the trip fee is non-refundable after April 14, 2022.

Please note that some insurance options require purchase within 24 hours of making payment for your trip. GreenWood recommends all travelers evaluate the insurance options available for their personal needs and inquire with providers about insurance that will provide coverage if the trip is canceled.

Travelers can acquire travel insurance from any vendor of their choosing.

Travel documentation

  • US citizens can enter Puerto Rico with a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license. You do not need a passport to enter Puerto Rico.

    As of March 10th, domestic travelers are no longer required to provide proof of vaccination or negative test prior to arriving on the Island.

    Additional Information: Travelers who test positive while on the Island must quarantine and cover their own medical expenses and costs related to a possible extended stay.

  • Traveling to Puerto Rico from abroad will require a Visa and Passport.

    According to CDC guidelines, US citizens arriving on most international flights do not need to provide any additional documentation (such as proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test).

    As of January 2023, all travelers (regardless of citizenship) arriving in the US from China, Hong Kong, or Macau, or travelers who have been in these locations in the 10 days before travel and are flying to the US from certain airports will need to provide a negative COVID-19 viral test before travel.

    International travelers who are neither US citizens nor permanent residents must still present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
