Tools
GreenWood always needs decent quality used woodworking tools that can be recycled to our artisan trainees in the field. These are not hand-me-downs, but valuable resources that can enjoy a second productive life in the hands of an emerging artisan. Indeed, many old tools are as good, or better, than anything that can be purchased new today. Please think of us before you retire your serviceable tools to the barn, the yard sale or the dump.
We are always looking for the following used hand woodworking tools:
- Drawknives
- Spokeshaves
- Low-angle block planes
- Inshaves, scorps, travishers
- Bit braces (and good auger bits in a variety of sizes)
- Broad hatchets
- Eggbeater drills
- Turning gouges and chisels
- Bench chisels
- #5 Hand planes
- Rough crosscut saws
- Mallets
- Combination squares
- Bench vises (and acme-threaded screws/nuts for shop-built vises), holdfasts, bench dogs and clamps
- Hand-crank grinders
Some tools have had a good life but get used up in the living, and are not worth rehabilitating. The following new tools are always welcome:
- Auger-bit files
- Sharpening stones
- Diamond wheel-dressing sticks
- Wheel dresser, diamond tip
- Honing guides
- Tape measures
We have occasional need for specific, small power woodworking equipment (drill press, tablesaw, chop saw, lathe). Please inquire.
Office Equipment
From time to time we need computers, scanners, printers, copiers, phones, digital cameras, projectors and other office equipment. Contact us if you have anything you’d like to pass on, or keep an eye on this site for future postings.
NOTE: All donated tools and equipment must be in decent working condition, requiring only minor adjustments or sharpening to be put into active service. Please contact us in advance of making any tool donations. If you include an inventory list and assign a cash value to your donated tools, GreenWood will gladly provide a receipt for your in-kind contribution. All donations—cash or in-kind—may be tax-deductible, as allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor.
